Like all manufacturers, BMW contracts with several vendors for tires, but only a few meet specs and on top of that, each may have their specialty tire that is best for a certain configuration, etc. This thread would compile data to see if there is a trend toward certain tires for certain configurations.

If I get an X3 I just hope to God I don't get Bridgestones. They suck.

Keep in mind with all these different tire(tyre) sizes and wheel sizes, the overall diameter of tire and wheel is going to be about the same. Whether it's 17" or 18".
