Be very careful of how the AT responds. There have been a huge amount of cases reported. The later years seem to have less problems.
The condition is that it stutters between 2-3 up and 3-2 down when making a rolling stop and accelerating. Can be annoying at some times and dangerous at others when trying to enter a traffic circle or heavy fast moving traffic.
Don't let any BMW dealer tell you they have never heard of it. It is well known and documented. If they tell you otherwise..walk away they are lying.
Ask to see the service history and if it has had a firmware flash recently.
