The N55 would have had the exhaust tips on the separate sides of the car. BMW has reiterated time and time again (in interviews as well as in practice) that they are doing turbo cars with exhaust tips on both sides - 135i being the exception. (Haven't we seen spyshots of the X3 with the exhaust on both sides as well?) If it was a diesel, it was the 30d engine, and not the 35d.
