This is what we will end up doing. The reason this is not our best solution is my folks live an a hour and half way. It will be a week before we can get the other set back. Longer family story than anyone cares to know.
I tried the locking the car with passenger door open. It locks the doors, until you shut the door with the key inside and the lights flash and doors unlock.
Thanks for the help today folks. Amazing to never lock your keys in your car huh?
