Flywheel came lose!!

Well I have had a problem, maybe some of you have had the same??
My Car is a X3 20D 2013 model, Automatic, 49000Km, 1.5yrs old.

Two weeks ago I tried to start the car. Nothing! only a small clunk when I pushed the start button. Tried several times just the same clunk.
Called the mobile care service. (Fast response from them )
The guy that came out tried to start the car, after quiet a few attemps the car suddenly started! He started the car maybe 10-15 times, always started but once or twice with some strange noise.
He said, best to go to the garge in the next few days. that this was not normal.
I drove home and had no problems. Starting the car a few times that eveing I had no problems.
Then.... the next morning started the car to hear a terrible noise like a rattling bag of bolts under the car!! then crunch and the car stopped!
The car was towed and the BMW gargage told me that the ring gear (Outer part) of the flywheel had sheared off It is normally held in place with rivets. The gargae had had only one other car with this issue and that was a 5 series. That needed a new gear box as the damage was a lot more than mine.
So I had a nice 3-series for a week while it was repaired.
Car is now back to normal.
Any one else heared of this ??
