I've had an issue with my X3 since late fall, but it was getting consistently worse, so I brought it into the dealer this week.

When I start the car and it is cold, the idle is very inconsistent, and the engine frequently stutters, shaking the car quite noticeably. Sometimes it won't start. The dealer claimed they were able to reproduce, didn't understand the problem because everything checked out fine, and recommended that I switch to 87 octane fuel instead of 91.

Has anybody else experienced this issue? It seems odd to recommend lower octane fuel to me.
