In answer to the inferiority of the V6, they fail to provide the smooth power of a V8 or an I6. This is because the V6 is like having a pair of 3 cylinder engines. Since there are 4 strokes the uneven number of cylinders creates an imbalance that needs to be compensated for using a balance shaft. Also, since the I6 has a single bank it has half the camshafts and valve train gears so it has less friction.
