Break-in procedure

I'm picking up my 2011 xdrive28i this afternoon and downloaded the owners manual to check out a few things in advance and noticed the break-in procedure is simplified from what my prior BMW's had in their manuals.

It used to state not to maintain constant speeds in my 2008 and 2004 3 series vehicles, and the new X3 manual doesn't say that anymore. It just states limit full throttle use and transmission kick down downshifts, which were also in the prior manuals.

Has BMW done something new with the piston rings or something, or did they realize most owners won't bother do what the manual states?
