I believe Mitsubishi gone upto 200hp/liter in one of the EVOs. There was a massive lag though... More power/liter means more boost which means more lag. That could be limiting factor even though there are ways of reducing the lag.

Also, you have good points about my previous on using V6 to create more interior room.
