Hello Digger, for what it's worth - a poms opinion..........forget the LR with it's roof 'kicked in'.
Seriously now, you might like to take a look at the Honda website. Sounds silly but stay with me on this.........the UK Honda site has a feature which allows one to compare different
vehicles. I found it very useful this time last year when I was contemplating the purchase of a new vehicle. Input those vehicles you are interested in and see what pops out. If this feature is available to you and you try it, you might well be looking to a BMW purchase based upon your vehicle life costs, etc.
From personal experience of worldwide LR use, I would never spend my own money on one! I have been let down too many times by LR vehicles and even now with their reported improved reliability I cannot justify the purchase of such a vehicle. Time will tell however.
