Power tailgate is nearly irrelevant to the situation. It's not gonna keep trying to chomp on your furniture. It may well be that it's less prone to bouncing, so once you tie it down -- which you should do -- it'll stay more stable. This said, the X3 is not a furniture hauling machine. You're pushing it beyond its intentions and should adjust your expectations accordingly.
