Does this year-old post by Lotus7 answer your question?

The correct offsets for the BMW factory wheels are:

307, 308 & 368 wheels 8JX18 ET43 (42 to 45 recommended range for 8.0 wheels)
309 & 369 wheels (Fronts) 8.5JX19 ET38
309 & 369 wheels (Rears) 9.5JX19 ET48
All, of course, have 72.6 borecentric mounting with a 5X120 BC.

Unlike most other BMW's the F25 chassis uses 14X1.25mm straight-tapered seat bolts instead of the more common 14X1.5mm bolts. The wheel bolt holes are the same, but the bolts obviously won't interchange.

M3 wheels vary with the year, but many have an offset between 30 and 40 mm for typical 8 or 8.5 widths. The 40's are probably OK , but 30's would be hard on the wheel bearings and might have clearance problems.
