X Men - Thanks for the informative post, it seems like this has caught the dealerships by surprise. Unfortunately, as an engineer when someone tells me to "do the math" I do it. So here's what I see:

Year Increase % $ Increase Rate
1 0 0 154.00
2 7 10.78 164.78
3 7 11.53 176.31
4 15 26.45 202.76
5 55 111.52 314.28
6 30 94.28 408.57
7 35 143.00 551.56

1972.26

Edit: Can't seem to get formatting to look good, but the far right column is the cost of each year from years 1-7 and the 1972.26 is the total paid over 7 years, so I might just ask the dealership to match that and we've got a deal :-)

Reminds me of when I was shopping, I looked at a Cadillac SRX (comparable to X3) and the salesman was going off on a dialogue about how they use regular gasoline, so I would save so much $$ on gas. Should have seen his face when I told him to prove it - his story was regular is cheaper than premium, however when I pointed out to him that the X3 is much more fuel efficient, the cost of gas per mile was actually less using premium in the X3.

He didn't want to believe it, but he couldn't disprove my numbers (and I liked the X3 better anyway). Reminds me of the Upton Sinclair quote - "It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends upon his not understanding it!"

Again, appreciate all the great information and pointers to other threads, as it has been very beneficial for me preparing to pick up my X3 later this month.
