Also have it and it is awesome. Thinner than weathertech but provides great coverage and saves weight. We have never once unfurled the little protective mat. I *think* it is welded to the bottom of the cover and it just flips out when you need it to.
Another benefit to this mat versus others at least in my mind is that the sidewalls are only an inch or so high, where as the other BMW mat has like a 6" lip that could cause problems when you fold the 2nd row down which would leave a big tall lip in the way. This mat is so flexi that it causes no problems folding the 2nd row down and putting large objects that take up the entire rear.
The box that comes with the kit is excellent as well. Not only will it hold a decent amount of liquid it has a pattern than sits in the mat and prevents any kind of slipping.
