I have now had the issue escalated to BMW Germany, but I don't hold out much hope after reading other posts on multiple forums, where others have had the same issue and no resolve after weeks of communication with dealers and BMW. Seems like it's a 'if it works, then all well and good', 'if it doesn't, then too bad'.
