I'm of the mind set of figuring out what you want. If the 2016 doesn't have anything that you want or must have that your 2012 can't reasonably get, then it wouldn't make sense to jump to a 2016. Then you figure out if leasing or buying (whichever model) works out better for you. It just sounds like you have multiple things being compared simultaneously which makes it difficult. Different model year, model, leasing/financing terms.
