Do you use different oils in US? I have 10 000 miles on the clock and still another 11 000 miles to go before service due by the OBD.

And we have proper winter here as well

Not even the most technical car magazine in Finland do additional oil changes during their long tests (40 000 miles test) on their cars, they only change oils when the OBD or schedule says so. And after each test they disassemble the engine to pieces and I have never seen any problems there in the past years. Back in 80's and 90's there was some occasions when valves or camshaft was worn... but not anymore.
