I’m just saying what I plan to do, which is to follow their written recommendations in the manual.
BMW’s official stance is that there is a break in period and they publish that information to be included with every car they sell. Will I blow the engine if I don’t follow their recommendations? Probably not.

The question was if there was a brake in procedure, the answer is yes.
If you want to redline it in reverse for your first two thousand miles…go for it. It’s your car.
