From my personal experience with 330i home link.
Make sure you original remote control has fresh battery - spend 45 min first day get her home (engine idle, remember in BMW you can't use home link if engine is off, same as horn) try to think my garage opener with my new car.
Nissan and Acura take about 3 min - but BMW
Only when I change battery, was able to think. And yes, rolling code - don't forget rolling code. I have to search E90Post for my original post.
