BP has a known and well publicized tainted gas issue in the Chicagoland area. BP supplies gas to Costco. I have bought gas at 2 other stations only in the last 3 weeks....both of which are in Iowa, which is apparently not affected. One of the 2 Iowa stations was also BP.
I can't explain why it didn't stop me dead until this week. Maybe the crap was slowly clogging my filter? Maybe it settled after my car sat for 5 or 6 days....who knows.
Finally, as I stated above, when I filed my claim with BP I was told over the phone that I was not the only person who has filed a claim from this specific Costco. The only Costco that has publicly acknowledged the issue is one in Northwest Indiana. I am hoping my local store does as well.
