It's a sport oriented vehicle. While not as firm as some other BMWs, and configurable with the right options, it tends toward more road feel and less body roll. Some of us here were looking for it to be even more firm. It seems that most folks who post here about "ride quality" are actually looking for a vehicle with a soft ride, as isolated from road variations as possible. Particularly if that is your category, I highly recommend a more robust test drive on roads that will be typical for you. As an example, the X3 will let you feel seams and breaks in the road, but is the smoothest car I've ever driven on a washboard gravel road (there may well be smoother cars for this, my point here is that the X3 departs from the "road feel" category there and may be comfortable if you drive such roads often).
