I don't know how it works in the UK, but in the US if you do not report it to your insurance and you have a problem with their repair you have no recourse. I would make sure there is an agreement in writing with dealership and that you get an allowance for diminished value. When you sell, it will be obvious that it has been repaired and will be worth less. This should not be something you take a hit on, they are at fault. Good luck.
