We have not had any cold weather issues like what you describe. So far it starts and runs fine. I also would be suspect of the fuel. The next few says will be a real test the way it sounds. I wish BMW offered a engine heater, it might not be needed often, but they reduce the stress on the engine quit a bit IMHO. Especially when the temp stays below 0F for 3 or 4 days.
