I felt the N55 on X5 is a bit overburdened. Not much power before a downshift or the turbo fully spools up.
But, X5 is very quiet at highway speed. So if you have long drives on your ski or road trip, that could be a plus over X3. Interior is also a bit larger (slightly wider) for the front seats, so driver's right leg isn't pushed out by the transmission tunnel as much.
