So the replacement Genuine BMW batteries are not that much more expensive than aftermarket ones.

I believe they are $160-180 thru getbmwparts.com.

However, I think the issue I might have run into with other batteries purchased elsewhere is that Ah rating may not always be printed on the exterior of those batteries. ISTA needs to know the Ah rating of the battery if you're programming for a different battery.
