2.0 vs 3.0 mpg will depend on how much of the performance you use. With the 2.0D you're likely to be working the engine harder than a 3.0D driver will, unless the 3.0D driver is very racy. The official consumption figures between the engines aren't hugely different either.

I'm hoping the 3.0D does lot better than my current car....19 to 22 mpg around town, 30 to 33 mpg on long runs over A roads and motorways.
