IIRC, on our '06 X3 you could query the TPM error message and it would tell you which tire it thought was low. Problem we had is that as the car aged, we started getting more false TPM alarms. I would stop, get out my tire gauge, and check the suspect tire but would find the pressure was the same as its counterpart on the other side of the vehicle.
Knock on wood, haven't had any TPM issues on the new X3.
