Oh no the sound isn't present when the road surface is good, and it doesn't make the sound because it's turning. It only happens while driving straight over particularly large road imperfections. It's exactly the same as what you're describing.

It could be one, single sound if you want to think of it that way. It's like a quick "blhkhluhuhntk."
