I have not been able to get info on any changes on the X3 line yet, but as for BMW paint in German and South African factories, its exactly the same as is used on many German and Japanese makes and comes from the same paint factories. ( Eg VW, Mercedes, Toyota, Ford Europe, Renault )

Some use a different Clear coat depending on their application technology ( powder, wet. ect)

BMW factories are either supplied by BASF or Standox (Dupont)
