I'd say that depends on what you need!
We like it. The primary benefit to us (in a car the age of yours) was getting navigation destinations into iDrive from the BMW Connected app more quickly than using My Car in Google Maps.
We also liked Life360 and Glympse. Otherwise it's not really all that useful.
