BMW dosent cover oil change outside your schedule maintenance, i have 7 months before that.
Make sure that you dont reset your service interval and buy the Genuine BMW filter.

I used Mobil 1, 0w-40. It was on the list on the BMW approved Oils LLC-1.
Either one is fine, but it is just preference.
