I've had 2 test drives so far, both without the option. I'll probably ring around some more to see if I can find a car with it. In normal mode the X3 is very comfortable but I don't find it sporty - it's more landroverish than I'd hoped. It also feels like a bigger vehicle than the Q5, less taut, and less feedback in the steering. While I could throw it around as is, some of my fears that BMW have removed the connection between vehicle and driver have been realized I think.

So my reasons for getting DDC are to return some of that feel and make the X3 the proper drivers vehicle. I'm not sure I'd be happy if it doesn't, maybe the x1 or the Q5 gets reconsidered.
