Well, here's what I heard from my dealer today, after asking him if 2013 cars will be serviced by the new 10,000 mi recommendation:
"My understanding is they will not. The service history will show the interval and the newer cars are marked as 10k oil change only because BMW is thinking owners aren't getting back into the dealerships often enough and are running around with unaswered questions affecting their satisfaction when surveyed. The change does not seem to be for mechanical reasons but more for customer satisfaction issues. I'd be happy to check with our service manager tomorrow to be sure."
