Totally agree with OP. The diesel is the commonsense (IMO) engine for such a vehicle. I did try the 35i but in-gear acceleration just seemed more sluggish than with the 30d and 35d. More power/torque, way better fuel mileage, whats not to like? I addition, the feel and sound of a big diesel is unmatched.

If I had gone with a smaller lighter car such as a 3 series I would have gone with a 335i even though my previous care was a 335d, which I loved.
