That is interesting indeed. Very rare for them to make that type of mistake, as the manufacturing supply pipeline is very sophisticated these days. Yet, certainly not impossible.
If it does indeed have the 309 wheels, they will be staggered (wider in the back) and they will have summer tires on them.
If you don't want that setup, you have a couple choices:
1. Tell your dealer you didn't order those wheels and tell them you want them changed. They will probably just let you drive on them until they get the wheels/tires in that you want.
2. Don't say a word... find another X3 owner in your area that is drooling for them and trade.
3. Sell them and get another set (you'll make a profit).
4. Buy a set of winter wheels/tires and change them in the spring and fall.
