I will be interested in your findings. I have used many versions of chips since they came out many years ago.

In fact, most recently I had a slightly different system on my 2007 e91 325d M Sport where I had a system produced by a company called VIEZU https://www.viezu.com/ where you connected a box called a V-Switch to the OBD port and had a choice of several maps. The box was not connected all the time, it was connected and the mapping was changed as you dictated and then the box was removed. When the car had to go to the dealer, you just put the original map back on the ECU. The procedure took 20 minutes.
