In my opinion, there are other benefit to non-runflat tires, such as slightly better fuel economy, more tire choices, lower price and a bit smoother ride. The disadvantage would be the safety factor, I guess it is all a calculated risk and how mechanically incline you are if you have a flat. Since the X3 is my wife's, I definitely want to stay with runflat. However, in my 5 series, I might switch over to conventional tires when its time for new tires.
More and more new cars now a days do not come spare tires, just a compressor and a slime kit, some doesn't even have runflats. I guess this is the new trend now, rather we like it or not.
