Had the noise since day 1 of the car. Apparently, new '13 and '14 X3s don't have the noise (service tech verified).
Thanks for the pointers to the others who had the rack replaced!
I did get a left strut and a left tie rod out of the deal during the debug process!

Hi my 2015 x3 3.0d has the clunk from day one less than a month old now just 500 miles run. The dealership is scratching their heads as to what can be done to my car. Asked them to replace the car, they say it is not such a big issue that would warrant a replacement and they would fix it. Lets see.
