I agree, its definitely less incentives for a dealer to negociate on a special order than one a car they have in stock.

But at the same time, you're giving them a "promise" that you'll buy the car when it arrives. It's also likely that the car will be more expensive and personalized. If you ordered Vermillion Red with Mohave leather (or a weird assortment of options), a dealer is going to struggle to turn that car over if you refuse the deal upon delivery.
