Robwoods - i've had a turbo on the 5 series as well and it doesn't sound like the turbo whistle.. but like the whining/whirling sound...
but glad to hear i'm not the only one... had the x3 for a mth now and only just started to hear it.. didn't put it down to the weather but it could v well be the case..
