The oil cooler on 35i vehicles is behind the open grill on all X3s. The intercooler used to cool the compressed, and therefor heated, air is the large "radiator-like" device at the bottom, and in front of the main radiator.

All the other X3 (F25) engines except the N55 use an oil to water, oil cooler. Only the N55 uses a cooler which uses ram air provided by the vehicle's forward motion. Don't block that grill!

On most of the "M cars" the low, outboard openings are routed to the brakes for brake cooling under track conditions. The X3 has no ducted brake cooling.

There is a small opening in the left grill for the outside temperature sensor. To get an accurate reading, the vehicle should move a little to force outside air into the small hole.
